Happy Easter! He is Risen!!

Happy Easter! What a great week/weekend of reflecting on our Savior and the price He paid for us...for our salvation...what incredible news that HE IS RISEN. Thank you Jesus.

I said it at Thanksgiving, and it hasn't gotten much better...trying to get a family picture with an almost 3 year-old and an 8 month-old never has a satisfying outcome :) Here are a few of our "tries." (These family shots are post-church, post-naps, post-Sullivan-spit-up...you get the idea...that's what happens when your husband is a worship leader - no family pics before church when everyone is fresh! Oh, but I wouldn't trade him for the world...)

Here are a few pics of the boys before church this morning - we were rushing out the door, so I didn't have time to get "perfect" pictures - hopefully you get the idea... such handsome boys :)

Puffs and Sullivan's first tooth!

Cute Baby Legs (my sister Jenna gave them to Oliver when he was a baby, and it was so fun to put them on Sullivan!)

It's funny how older siblings like to revert back to babyhood when they have a baby in the house. Oliver sometimes likes to do tummy time and crawling practice with Sullivan :)
We introduced Sullivan to puffs last week, and he loves them! He does great - very minimal gagging - when you put it in his mouth, he flips it over to the side of his mouth with his tongue and gums it for a few seconds while it dissolves and then swallows. He was a pro really quickly! Here he is working on picking one up (you can't see the one he's working with cause his hand is in the way.)
Got it!
"Let's see if I can get this thing in here..."
Love the tongue-out-concentration :)
Another bit of exciting news....we have our first tooth!! You can barely see it in the picture, but you can see it if you look closely. It's his bottom left front tooth (click on the picture to enlarge it - it's the right side, if you're looking at the picture.) That little thing is sharp! I just finished weaning completely to bottles, and it seems it was just in the nick of time...

Sully Cole

Oh how I love this kid...

Getting excited and doing "the swim"
Playing after a good dinner of peaches/rice cereal
Sullivan continues to be a delight...and an avid spitter-upper. Wow, is all I have to say. We decided to go ahead and try the medicine that our doctor suggested; he's been on it for 2 weeks, and it has not even made a dent in the spitting. I saw the doc at church yesterday and mentioned it to him...he said if it hasn't helped by now, then it probably won't. "He's just a spitter - he'll grow out of it - it's just going to be a social problem!" Ugh, easy for him to say. Social problem and laundry problem. Makes my heart hurt sometimes when I think about how people often want to "keep their distance" from him in an effort to not be spit upon - and how can I blame them? It's pretty gross. I mean come on - I'm his mom, and even I think it's quite disgusting. But he's such a sweet and fun baby - seriously so much fun - and I feel bad for all the fun that people are missing out on. I'm really hoping the spitting stops soon. We're getting weary of it! But just when we're getting weary, he lights up our world with his full-face smile and a giggle, and all the clouds go away. Sweet, sweet baby. My heart is overflowing when I think about him.

Mostly Oliver

I thought I should update you with a few more "black eye" pics of Oliver...

These were from a few days ago, and it's really getting so much better. A friend aked him yesterday if it hurt, and he replied, "probably not anymore." Oliver's a big fan of using the words "probably" and "sure." Some of the cutest quirks about him!

We were playing with his blocks a few days ago, and Oliver was big into spelling all our names. We didn't have enough of the same letters, so we improvised a little bit.
Oliver's quite a fan of having a little "nudie" time after baths :)
Here's Oliver's Easter outfit that M'laine got him - I think this is officially my favorite outfit Oliver has ever had. Ever. And you know what makes it even better? Sullivan has a coordinating (not matching) outfit that will remain a mystery to you until Easter. I'm not risking putting it on him prior to that, for fear of it being soiled in any way. I don't know what it is about them, but truly, I couldn't be more giddy about clothes :) Thank you, M'laine!! I plan to take the boys to get professional pictures done in them soon. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the pants are navy blue linen and the orange button up shirt under the sweater is also linen. And the saddle shoes rock the entire outfit! Takes me right back to my childhood. So fun :)

And because I couldn't let this post go without a picture of Sullivan :) I didn't have any current ones on the camera, so I just went in during his nap a bit ago and snapped a pic...sleeping babies are always so sweet :) I'll have more fun ones of him soon.

Primms and Black Eyes

Oliver felt really bad that I had a black eye, so yesterday he decided to give himself one so I wouldn't be alone.....

Okay, so that's not exactly how it went. The real story went something like this: I was changing Sullivan's diaper in his room, and Oliver was playing in my room on the floor with his trains. As I'm changing Sullivan, I hear a bang and some major crying coming from the other end of the house. As I grab Sullivan and haul booty to the other side of the house, I hear silence (I can count on one hand the number of times Oliver has cried that hard in his lifetime). Poor baby. When I get to him I assess his face and immediately see this: Between cries the story I got was something like he was playing with his trains and he bent down and cracked his face on the wooden frame to Seth and my platform bed. OUCH. I think I would cry if I did that too. It took him awhile to calm down, and I was freaking out inside a little trying to assess the situation and figure out how hurt he was and what kind of care this wound needed. I got him to calm down, got some ice, got him on the couch, and somehow got him to let me ice it. It did help some with the swelling. I also gave him Tylenol. Poor baby. These pictures are from last night, a few hours after the accident.

So swollen.

This morning: the beginnings of a black eye.
This afternoon: darker black eye. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. I have asked him numerous times how his eye feels, and he says "Good!" :) I think it looks much worse than it feels. Still, just freak me right out. What's up with the Primms and black eyes all of a sudden??? Enough already!

Could this child be any happier?
And could he spit up any more than he already does??? Yeah, definitely won't miss that when it's gone. Assuming it will leave someday....please, spit up, please leave someday....preferably someday soon...
